I'm thinking of buying a 2nd FV for transferring my beer into from the original FV. What are the pro's of doing this?

I want to eliminate as much of the yeast from going into the bottles at the end. Is a tap on the bottom of the 2nd FV a good idea or should I stick with my siphon? Is there some kind of filter available to reduce cloudiness?

PS: Couldn't wait to try my Coopers Mexican, so I'm having a bottle now. Very nice

Pro's - many people believe that dropping to another FV after the initial stages of fermentation gives you a 'cleaner' beer.

Con's - The more you move a beer around the more you risk oxidation & infections.

I have taps on all of my FV's but taps are traps for nasties that want to spoil your beer, so they need special attention when cleaning and sterilising. I use the drum type taps that can be taken apart. Clean/Sterilise the tap outlet just before you move the beer & avoid splashing.

Dropping isn't something I do - so others may be able to pad this answer out a bit more :thumb:
