Hi,

I'm planning to brew 5 Liters of WOW. Usually this is brewed in a DJ.
The problem is I don't own one. I do have a 30L plastic beer fermenting tank with airlock.
My question is: does this work just as good?
Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion.

Cheers

IMHO you could certainly start it off in the large FV you've got but You'd really have to rack it off in to a DJ at about day 5-7. When the fermentation starts slowing down the nice cushion of CO2 will stop protecting your brew from oxidising.
You could always pop out tomorrow for one of the 5ltr water bottles from local supermarket. They make great DJs.

As long as it's airtight and got an airlock then I don't see why not. Maybe worth brewing 6 gallons though to minimise head space. Don't know if that would be needed, but it's what I would do.

Also, if you have a Wilkos near you, they sell 25L fermenting buckets for £8.50

either buy a demijohn from wilkos £6 or get a couple of 5L bottles of water. £1.10 each in ASDA i think. you can also use some of the water in making the wow. I say a couple cos at some point you're going to have to rack it.
