Afternoon all.

I began to bottle my first batch of bitter last night but found my crowing tool was naf so It all went into the barrel. HOWEVER I found a home brew section in my local Tesco today and manage to get a better crowner.

Question. Can I draw more beer from the barrel as its only been in for 24 hours? If so would I need to prime the bottles with more sugar?

If you bulk primed your barrel dont prime your bottles or you will be having a bit
of bother in the exploding department...........

I might of made a mistake with the priming. I used sugar and just lobbed it in. I didnt dislov it at all. Wont it still be in the bottom of the barrel at this stage? :wha:

id let the second ferment go on for a bit as if you dont know how much sugar you put in . and draw some off in a few days and see wot type of reading you get.1020- 1015 il think shoud bottle ok with out priming you bottles its around 3oz for a five gallon barrel mate . ive ad bottels explode in my cupbord. it took the door clean off . and wot a mess it made theres still glass in the wall

I can see all the sugar still in the bottom of my bottles. Im worried that I may have made a mistake. I also did a 2l soft drink bottle which also has the problem, however its almost rock hard so somethings happening.

Idea's?

Cheers
Craig

Yes but make sure it is warm enough - room temp for a week is standard.
