Im a new brewer, just on my second kit but wouls appreciate a bit of advice from the experts.

Im brewing a coopers real ale kit, and following some advice i have received i decided to do a 2 stage fermentation, so after a week i transferred the beer to the secondary fv. At this point there was still some activity, bubbles rising, and the gravity was 1.020.

Its now been over 2 days since i did this and there has been no activity at all, no bubbling. It looks completely flat and dead, no foam on top at all.

The temperature has been a constant 20° in my brewing cupboard, the gravity reading was taken at the correct temp and i sanitised thoroughly before transfer.

Any ideas why it stopped dead as soon as i transfered, or what i should do?

Cheers.

Does your kit specify what the fg should be? What was your OG?

It could well be a case of stuck fermentation, have a look here

Take a hydrometer reading if you are worried but I am sure it will still be fermenting. The later stages of fermentation are a lot quieter than the inital ones and there tends not to be any foam on top.

If it is stuck just follow the how to on stuck fermentation a and it will start up again.

maybe it is stuck but really it only needs to drop 10 more points before bottling. I would just keep it warm and see what happensit could take a few days for the yeast to kick in again. Time will tell

Im just about to take another gravity reading as its been a couple of days so i'll see if it's dropped at all.

If it has stuck its surely somethin ive done because as i said it was still bubbling away just before i transfered it.

with bottom fermenting yeast when you transfer you leave the bottom bit in the fv. So the beer you transferred has yeast in but it needs to start growing and working again just give it a few days
