Been brewing cider from kits for about a year now with some good results. I recently had a great stroke of luck at auction where I managed to get 2 pressure barrels, a fermenting bucket and a jam pan for the princely sum of 4 pounds. This means i now have 2 FV's so this time along side my usual kit cider I decided to try a turbo cider.
I did a quick bit of reaserch on here but not all that much and I came up with this recipie for the T/C.
23L Lidl apple juice (£1 ish for 1.5l)
1.4kg sugar
2 cups incredibly strong black tea (3 bags in each)
Youngs cider yeast.
It started with an SG of 1.065 and using the calculator if i can get it down to 1.00 (currently 1.030) then it will be 8.53% or rocket fuel! This is my first attempt at turbo so any advice/tips will be gratefully recieved.
In my second bucket I have the 'On the rocks' mixed berry kit. I have had very good results with the pear one of these but this is my first mixed berry. SG started 1.040, currently 1.010 so I think this will soon be ready to barrel up.
Did have some pictures but as I'm a new user it wont let me post them, will try and add some later.
I will update as I barrel up/sample to let you know if the recipie is any good. As I said any tips/hints will be greatly appreciated although I'm not keen on adding chemicals/additives if I can get away with it.
