Firstly let me explain how my dream came about.

About a year ago some friends and I at University embarked on a so called "keg challenge" where we each finished a 5-litre so called "mini-keg" (now I know for you guys the thought of a mere 5 liter container being graced with the title of keg must fill you with disgust, but please bear with me- we were young, naive and in possession of a much less hardened liver than we are today)

Now I can't remember much of this night but it must have been good seeing as we were disciplined by college officials. During this disciplinary hearing the University dean who had heard we had completed a keg challenge and must have naturally been thinking of its 59 liter form and stated "Surely it's humanly impossible to finish a whole keg" and in my mind I thought "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"

Now we have our final University exams coming up and we are all in a state of constant work and, perhaps even more depressing, constant sobriety. So as a reward for finishing our final exams my friends and I, in the dean's honor (and I'm sure she will be delighted) will be completing the keg challenge again, but this time with a proper keg.

Now I know this isn't stricly a home brew and I am on the home brew forums, but I thought you would be able to help a fellow beer enthusiast out.

The only kits I've been able to find for converting my old fridge into a kegerator to cool the keg are from american sites:

http://www.kegworks.com/standard-refrig ... 423-p16424

http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-bee ... RCK-S.html

I haven't been able to find an english website that can source all of this equipment, would any of you be able to point me in the right direction for aquring this equipment so I can turn my dream into a reality.

Many Thanks

IF your not really interested in carrying on homebrewing afterwards you might find it easier/cheaper to just hire this equipment from somewhere.....

A quick google suggests that for around £200-250 you will get everything you need including beer of your choice, delivered.

If you go alone then you can buy all the bits required from any good homebrew shop (see links above) and/or email Norm in the Links section above and he will have everything you want. You will need a local gas supplier though whihc is often the tricky bit.

If you were drinking ale you could get a firkin and keep it cool with an insulated jacket or even just some wet blankets maybe.

My local micro does a firkin to the public for around £100 depending on what beer, comes with tap and all you need to go. :thumb:

If not, try searching the forum for fridge conversion or kegerator and you'll likely find some step by step instructions.

Hello all! I am bumping this topic because I am a home brewer who has been looking all over the place for these same kits and have had the same luck as oxygengiver2000... All the sites seem to be US based. Some excellent advice has been given RE: hiring equipment for his temporary need, but no-one has actually answered the original question yet o_O

So ... Does anyone know of a place in the UK where kegerator conversion kits can be bought? or even just plain old tower taps (I can manage the conversion myself, it's mainly the tap itself that's got me flummoxed. Thanks in advance for any help!

Will
