Any other fans of the TT amongst the folk on here? Being fortunate to live in Morecambe and knowing John McG's brother, it's not too much of a hardship to pop over for the day to watch them, however this year left it far too late and can't get over to the Isle. This will mean this years TT will be followed by the medium of the interweb, iPhone app and ITV4 coverage.

Anyone else heading over?

Wish I was. I've got exams all week and one next week so the TT is out for me. I'm determined to go next year though!

youve got to have economy sized balls to race at the island!

not going meself, always too much to do over here :(

I've never been, but would love to go one day. Maybe when the kids have grown up so I could really enjoy it all

It's well worth making the trip, even if you only do the 2am ferry from Heysham and get the 8pm one back. You'll need just the one night's accommodation this side of the water so you're not having to book years in advance for a night on the island, the buzz and craic up by the ferry port the night before is amazing and then you have the racing itself... breath taking how quick they go with a run off the size of a small postage stamp before hitting a brick wall.

But the best way to experience the TT, camp for the weekend or even better, the week. It's a proper laugh!

Last night was the first practice run, normally the time to get the feel for the track, take time to bed in... not John McGuiness, a 128mph lap  Reckon someone will break the 132mph barrier this time.

I thought the thread was going to be about TT landlord.

 Sorry about that, I should have put more thought into the title given the nature of this site!!

I was there in 1987 and 1988, haven't made it back since, somehow it's not been the same since Yer Maun racing in Europe.

The wife has finished her degree, so after 4 years we were going to have the cash and the time (uni exams clash with TT week summat chronic :( ) but she's been accepted for an MA, so I guess it'll be 2014 when we go, not 2013 :)

ITV4 is keeping the withdrawal symptoms to a minimum mind :D

I have 3 mates doing the Lightweight. Richie Gelder, Jammie Hamilton and Ivan Linton. (I raced with Richie and Jammie a few years back). Michael Nibblet in the Superbike and I think Jammie is doing the Superstock and Senior and Ivan is doing the Supersport aswell. My Dad used to do the Southern 100 and that was the family holiday back in the mid/late 70s. Would love to go back for a holiday as the island is so beautiful.

:thumb: It adds to the whole event when you know someone racing at the meeting doesn't it! I heard Ivan's name on the radio the other day, said he did well in the Supersport, so congrats to him. For your 3 mates doing the lightweights, good luck to them tomorrow (Manx weather has curtailed any action today), hope they all come home safe and sound and with huge grins on their faces!

It sure does. Sitting at home with Manx Radio on the lap top listerning to the coverage and watching the live timeing. Ivan was realy made up 10th in first Supersport race and 14th in 2nd lapping at an average of just over 120mph is some result for a team on there budget. He was looking forward to todays lightweight race but the Manx weather being what it is it is now tomorrow. But that means I will be able to listern to the race now. :thumb:

Thought this might be of interest. It's a picture from this years TT. An aquantance of mine Michael Nibblet.

I've been there and marshalled varous corners at the TT, I hope he lives long enough to learn, taking chances with the TT course can be a short cut to another place, where beer might not exist

I love the atmosphere when race / practice day has gone well, but it's 'orrible in the bars when it goes **** up for one of the racers :(
