can anyone tell me why my Yorkshire bitter kit after fermenting for a week and being bottled for two weeks tastes quite strongly of treacle?

everything has been thoroughly sterilized and the bottles are brand new.

Its a bit early to drink yet mate im sure. It s amazing what difference a couple of weeks will make, and if you have patients a couple of months. I always drink most of my brews too early, as i have no patients

You are definitely tasting it very young. Are you sure the fermentation had finished after just one week (by using a hydrometer)? If not, there could be residual sugars making it taste sweet. I would normally expect to ferment for nearer 2 weeks, followed by the bottles being in the warm for 2 weeks and then 2 weeks in the cold after that. Some beers can take 2 months of conditioning in the cold before they are really worth drinking.

Thanks guys will leave for a few more weeks yet then. as i have plenty of already brewed lager to drink lol.
Will come back laters and let you know what happens
It had definitely finished fermenting as i always use a hydrometer.
