Hi Folks,

I'm planning on experimenting with my newcastle brown ale clone at the weekend. I'm thinking about adding some treacle to the boil for a change. I'm thinking half a tin for a brew of about 20-25litres. Has anyone tried anything like this? Hops will be challenger and EKG. All input appreciated.

Cheers,

DirtyC

DC i put in 1lb honey and 1lb of lyles golden syrup it made it stronger but much much smoother tasting

Cheers Dev, though about golden syrup too. Really fancy having a go with the treacle and see how it goes.

Couple of questions,

1) does 454g can of treacle sound too much for a 22L brew?

2) Should I add it to the boiler or straigt to FV?

Im gonna dissolve it in some boiling water first...

Cheers,

DC

454g sounds about right for 22L yeah get on dissolve in 1litre of water and add to boil kettle is what i did.
