I am about to make a coopers irish stout and a coopers stout. I have read treacle can be used to prime which will give the stout a richer taste and fuller body. Am I correct (again after reading) that 100g sugar will give 100% when primed while treacle gives 74%? Does that mean then that if I use treacle I would use 126g to be same as sugar? Anyone used treacle for this purpose with these stouts and is it recommended?

For my last stout kit (Black Rock) I replaced some of the sugar with 908g of black treacle and would definately agree that the treacle gave the stout more body and a much richer taste but have not used treacle as a priming agent myself.

Treacle's yield is 74% compared to sugar's 100% so I think you would need to use the additional amount of treacle to have the same priming effect as 100g of sugar.
