If i wanted to take a king keg style keg to a bbq or the like would i be right in thinking the best way to transport would be to transfer the cleared beer to a second keg and then re gas with co2 thus avoiding sediment getting stirred back up again ?

:thumb: Spot on :thumb:
I would purge the second keg with CO2 prior to transfer, after filling the second keg I would stand it in as cool a place as possible (without freezing the beer) for a couple of days with as much top pressure as you can to restore some of the condition that will be lost during transfer.

did this the other day with cornies but forgot to degas first, ended up with a keg of foam

we live and learn, should have chilled it first as well to keep more CO2 in.

No need to lose any gas during keg to keg transfer....

Gas both kegs to a little above the level they are carbonated to eg 100kpa.
Put the dispensing keg up higher than the recieving keg.
Connect both Gas posts together with 2 qd's & a length of gas line.
Then connect both beer posts in the same manner - A quick pull of the recieving kegs relief valve will start the flow. As the bottom keg fills it's headspace transfers to the top keg.
The beer will transfer to the bottom keg without creating any foam or loss of carbonation whatsoever :) I use this same method when i want to filter carbonated beer.

Cheers Ross
