I'm going to have a stab at the Townes IPA recipe listed here http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=738.

This will be my first AG brew so just want o make sure I'm getting this right...

There is no mention of adding Irish Moss, which I guess is not part of the recipe, but part of the overall process. Should this be added? If so should it be added with the second batch of hops 15 mins before the end? Also should I put the Chiller at this point for sterilisation? Seems quite a bit going on 15mins from end of boil...!

I'd add Irish Moss, put about a tsp of it in along with the 15 min hops, (i.e. 15 mins before flame out). Immersion Chiller goes in at the same point.

Some people recommend rehydrating Irish Moss in warm water first. I got clear beer just lobbing it in before I switched to protofloc but that may be more luck than judgement.

I see that Mumbler has beaten me to it, but I'll post it anyway.

Yes to both, whatever Copper Finings you're using should go in for the last 15 minutes of the boil, and drop the chiller coil into the boiler at that point too (but obviously don't turn it on).

I used Irish Moss for my first few brews but then got hold of some Protofloc tablets and will never go back to the moss.

Good luck with your first brew

Read the “How To” guide again before you start, but it will begin to make more sense once you've done a couple of brews.

It is good to have an ordered checklist your first few times (at least). Check and double check your taps are closed! Pay attention to cleanliness post boil. I get my FV cleaned and sanitised during the mash or the boil. I also set multiple alarms on my phone for timing, whatever works really.

Best of luck
