I've recently racked off my rhubarb wine into a second demi john, due to leaving all the sediment at the bottom I'm now left with about 4 1/2 litres, ideally I would have liked 5 litres to equally fill 6 wine bottles. I was thinking about topping it up to 5 litres with a pinot grigio wine I made from a kit, I was wondering if anyone has done this before and what was the outcome, I'd be grateful for any advice

can't help directly, but rhubarb wine is meant to be the best wine to top up other wines with as it takes their flavour very well - just a heads up for the future, keep a bottle of rhubarb in case this situations crops up again!

(a) 6 wine bottles is 4.5l, not 5. Then again, most demis are 4.5l or 4.5andabit. A few do get to 5.
(b) If it has a good enough ABV, just use water. If you put anything containing sugar in it'll just extend the ferment, and you'll have to rack again, with more topping up... You lose very little alcohol when you rack, as it's mostly just nasty old solids you leave behind.
Topping up with finished Pinot ought to work, all the fermentables will be gone.
