to grind or not to grind

when buying the grain for my first ag is it better to buy whole grain or buy it crushed
i will prob buy a full sack as it seems cheaper that way
does it keep fresher if i buy it whole
and if so what do i need to crush the grain

sorry for all the questions guys but i want to do it right
many thanks

Most people buy it pre-crushed, me included.
I'd like to be able to mill my own, but can't really justify the money for a decent mill.
It will keep better uncrushed.
I buy my pale and lager malt by the 25kg sack and don't seem to have any issues regarding freshness, extract yeild, taste, etc

By it crushed . . . Unless you want to fork out 150 quid for a malt mill

just got 25gk of crushed pale malt and evreything else i need to do a morland speckled hen once i get the rest of my kit

i dont often get a week day off so i thought i should make use of it
