NewZealand Black Rock Cider kit.
1KG of Sugar
OG 1035
Pitched on 1st Aug (yeast that came with kit)
Good initial fermentation. Lots of airlock activity.

Reading this morning SG 1017 (after 12 days)
The instructions stated a 7-10 fermentation with expected FG of 1006.
I was planning to rack this weekend.

Should I re-pitch? Or just give it somemore time?

Varnish, that OG sounds very low :wha:
Did you mix the kit contents thoroughly when you made it up? It is better I find, to "Lift" the bottom of the fermenting to the top rather than stirring round and round.
Also what temperature is the cider at? If you have been fermenting at ambient temperature, about 20C at the moment then I would say that it would take at least a couple of weeks if you used the small sachet of yeast that came with the kit.
Finally have you checked that your hydrometer is correct, it should float at 1.000 in water at 20C.

Everything was well mixed. Like you say stiring from the bottom to the top.
Yes, it's at ambient temp.
I have two hydrometers. I haven't calibrated either but they both read the same value.
I'll check them tonight.

I though the OG low-ish as well, but was happy as I wanted a drinkable cider. Not something that steam rollers you into submission after two or three pints.

I'll buy a couple of packets of yeast today anyway. I may decide to re-pitch if the SG has not dropped when I get home tonight.

I'm such a noob!

Checked the SG this morning and it had fallen to 1010.
Lesson learned
