Only just missed out on Kev's amazing bargain (by about 19 hours!!!), so I'm still hunting around for the ideal BIAB container for a 23 litre brew. As always I look to our wonderful sponsors and have found this item:

http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/33l ... p-576.html

What does everyone think of this? SWMBO is not overly keen on me doing BIAB in the house, so it looks like I might have to retire out to the garage (which has electric but no gas) so I'm trying to find cheap options.

Cheers for your help/ advice :thumb:

Nice one, cheers fbsf for your reply :D

I think I might have found a solution that keeps her happy and me, bingo!

Is that made from a Young's FV?

Yup. Obviously, you can make one yourself for a fair bit less, but the kettle element is a "proper" one that doesn't have exposed electrics like the tesco value kettle ones, comes with an IEC Hot lead, and the included hop filter works really well.

It's ideal if you are electrically incompetant or too nervous/scared to make one yourself. I've done 5 brews in mine without issue. You do need to be careful when removing the cord from the element as the plastic can flex, but if you keep that in mind, it'll last a fair while.

I have a spare Youngs 33L FV that I could convert to a boiler but I got mixed responses here when I asked about converting it. It is a lot sturdier than my Youngs 25L FVs. I would certainly use a proper element as I don't think the value conversions look very safe. I assume all the other bits are available separately from the home brew company - all I'd need then would be a suitable drill bit.
