Last night 24 of us met up for a fishing session, we always take a load of food and drink and not a lot of fishing gets done :wha: its only twice a year and more for 'the craic' than anything

Well I promised I'd take along some home brew and the verdict was ............ brilliant :thumb:

First off I gave out some from my first two brews which were from 'kits' :!: it went down well (our lads don't pull punches if it was crap they'd say so) remarks went from 'very gluggable' to 'thats a bit of alright innit' & 'better than my local'

and then out came my AG1 the 'Initiation brew' the reaction was superb, many comments were along the 'feckin ell Baz thats brilliant' lines to others who said they'd not tasted anything nearly as good in years  the whole lot went in no time :drink: a roaring success  there were one or two asking if they could have a dozen bottles for christmas 'cos they're paying a fortune in the supermarkets for 'local' quality ales and 'this stuffs every bit as good as anything I've bought'

the only complaints were from those driving, they had a small taste and wanted more, so they were happy when I produced another box of bottles for them to take home

the verdict ............. well it spoke for itself

Well done that man :thumb: :thumb: . It is great to know your beer is appreciated. When ever I give out my beers I get the same response 'when can we have a crate of this' 'are you going to sell it' . I think because supermarket beer is so sh*te and a decent pint in the pub expensive, that people go mad when they taste a half decent beer. Its not rocket science just takes a bit of effort and plenty of patience.

I organised a sea fishing/camping trip this year with a load of my mates & had very similar reactions to yours with the beer i took along :thumb: I allways hand beers out to naibours friends & families. Its equally satisfying to me to get some feedback good :D or bad :( it just wouldnt feel right to selfishly drink it all myself :nono: )

You get BAD feedback :wha: :wha: If it is free surely you only get good feed back (unless they don't want any more)

Its a common reaction Baz. Everyone's preconceptions are for something cloudy and infected but they get a shock at the quality.

Must admit to feeling rather pleased with myself last night, everyone raved about the AG brew saying how much better it was than the 'kit' :!: so yes it really is worth the extra effort :thumb:

after all my homebrew was finished someone produced 2 dozen cans of lager, only a few went and it was hilarious listening to the comments about the tinnies being compared to the AG

... the best one was one of the lads who had earlier stated he only drinks lager but would try a small sample of the 'kit' beer, he tried the AG and came back for another, he loved it, later on he had a lager and said, 'why have I been drinking that shytte all these years' and poured it away

Sounds like it went well :thumb:

I supplied bottles for a mate's wedding reception at the weekend. It seemed to go down well.

Iv never had bad feedback only comments regarding a particular style that may not be to a particular persons likeing.

Congratulations Baz, and I think that sort of feedback is precisely why these guys started this forum in the first place.

Unfortunately, as Dunfie says, preconception is usually that homebrew will be inferior to commercial product. It's great to see the reaction when you prove that can be completely the wrong way around.

Bonus points to you for converting the l*g*r drinker

:D Great Baz :thumb: Nothing is more satisfying then handing out some lovely homebrew - beer or wine or whatever! My dad was so suprised with the quality of the AG beers that I have been steadily supplying him for the last year that he plans to start AG brewing after a house move soon (hopefully) My dad brewed some wine and beer kits in the seventies and was really impressed with how things have moved on (he is 65 next year) so i`m looking forward to some great brewdays with him in the future - and when my son is older some triple generation brewdays
The missus loves the homebrew wine ( baz get a wurzels on - after six months in the bottle its excellent) my mum and sisters love the wine too and my brother in laws look forward to christmas time ;)

All in all home brewing is great
