My local range has just got the homebrew gear in stock I what's peoples view on the ipa kits

I've got an IPA kit from The Range ready to go once I've finished decorating the kitchen, so I'm interested to hear how others find it and what they maybe did to it to pimp it up!

I've brewed The Range's Irish Stout and had a few bottles at the weekend - they were delicious. I'd recommend that one if you're thinking about trying another, and if you like stout, obviously!

The IPA kit is good. A slight twang initially but I don't notice it so much now. I brewed it back in May, left it in the wardrobe bottled up and kind of forgot about it.

I'll be doing the stout soon ready for Christmas.

cocoa nibs from a Holland and Barrett, enhance flavouring.
When do you add the nibs and for how long? I made this kit back in July, following the instructions and ingredients, and it turned out pretty good! Next time I do it (and I will do it again!), I might give this a try.

Do the Range still have homebrew kits in-store, not going to waste a journey if not, but all the ones I've tried previously were good.

Big store near me didn’t have any, smaller store not far away had them all !!?

We have found our local store is always out of MYO wine kits so last time we were in the store SWMBO asked why, the shop assistant said they sell like hot cakes since lockdown (we never used to have any problems finding them in store before) so we now save fuel (16 mile round trip) and order online P&P is 3:95 and last time we ordered two kits which arrived in the same box and postage was £3:95 so a bargain.

I have a decent size Range not too far from me but I have never been able to see kits in there in the past when I have been tagging along with the wife and kids. To be fair, I haven't been for the best part of 12 months now though so perhaps things have changed.

I'll have another look next time I go. What other stuff do they keep them by?

I'm currently drinking a Range IPA (with included hops) brewed it with a kilo of light DME and Safale S-04 and then pressure barreled. Sadly fermentation stuck at 1020 so it needed some wine yeast for the final push down to 2010. All in, the fermentation took 28 days :-(

I'm finding it a little harsh with a bit of twang, more enjoyable than my Woodefords Wherry but no where near as good as my MJ Grapefruit IPA. Ironically, I'm getting more grapefruit sensation with the range IPA than I am with the MJ one.

Each to their own, but after tasting the MJ, I won't be going back to the Range beers anytime soon.
