I have decided to bump this old thread so we can see if Justin Dean was right when he posted this earlier -
Is it just me or is this forum overly socialist
This thread was not started by me and i have lost the name of the original poster, i am sure someone will let me know who it was so i can give them the credit later.

The reason I'm posting is this -
since I took an interest in brewing beer, I've signed up to two beer forums and browsed thru lots more. And what i think I can truthfully say is that when most members of a beer forum posts a political opinion, it is nearly always right wing. Thatcher loving, Corbyn hating, Pro-brexit, climate-change-is-a-hoax-by-all-the-worlds-scientists-including-NASA-who-are-lying, Trump loving etc.

WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN BREWING BEER AS A HOBBY AND BEING RIGHT WING?

Take the test - The Political Compass

Lol, two thirds left and down.

I don't think there is any connection between brewing as a hobby and being right wing. But I do think those on the right wing are more likely to pipe up with a political opinion on the whole.
Amongst my wide ranging group of friends and acquaintances, it's generally those on the right side of things that are the most likely to suddenly grasp a political point of of thin air in a conversation. But..... given I'm erring on the left, maybe I'm just more sensitive to hearing and noticing those moments???

Oh dear, they've put Hitler on the economic right. Somebody obviously hasn't read Albert Spears autobiography....
His autobiography? Was Albert a cover name for Adolph, by any chance? And Hitler's only just on the right, maybe he didn't understand all the questions. Some of them are a bit daunting.

WOW! I can't remember answering those questions before, so I am pleased to announce my score as:

Economic Left/Right: -7.5
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.1

So, NOT being a Communist and NOT being an Anarchist, I think that makes me a SOCIALIST ...

... just like it says on my Labour Party Membership Card!

Many thanks for the opportunity to answer the questions!
athumb.. athumb.. athumb..

Apparently Gandhi isn't extreme enough for me.

I used to think that there were more conservative views on this forum than liberal, but after taking part in quite a few debates on Brexit, immigration, climate change etc. I don't think that's the case at all. Maybe I was noticing those views more because they contrasted so much with mine, but after some recent discussions this wasn't the case at all, and thinking back to other debates there loads of "left wing" opinions coming forward.
