Eh up.

Been here before but not had the nudge over the edge....A local Micro is looking for help with sales, he cannot afford to employ anyone full time, limited resourses etc.

I have a bit of free time (not a lot) and a good few contacts in the trade...Deal struck...Over the edge we go...

He brews the beer, I sell it and get to brew on the big gear from time to time. The benefits for me is:-

1) no risk entry to doing this comercially
2) time to build up a base of customers
3) I could start my own brewery on the back of his kit as a "cuckoo"
4) if he gets busier he will build up to 10BBLs and so on, at 10BBLs there is enoiugh for us both to make a living.

Whats stopping me?

Im sure that there will be a good dollop of mashtun digging...

Thanks for the words of support from you all. I think that this is the opportunity I needed to kick on and do sommat I want to do rather than what I need to do to pay the mortgage etc.

As my main job is flexible, I can fit brewing on the big kit, with my kiddy duties (I need to do school runs and keep the house straight), sell a bucket full of his gear and keep myself busy with my main job.

it appears that he has not had a holiday for a good deal of time, I will be there on hand to keep his FVs to temp answer the phone etc

Congrats rob! What you described is how a large majority of folks over get their foot in the door in the pro brewing world. We just call it internships so at least they have s fancy name for no pay.

Best of luck!

Good on you Rob, go for it I'm sure you'll make a success of it :thumb:
