I take my mum (91) for a ride in the country now and then, and we usually stop off somewhere for a drink and a bite. Went to a pub in Weeley Essex (cant remember the name) and had the guest beer. Harwich Brewery mild ale. Very light colour for a mild but what a flavour!! Best pint I have ever had. Went back some time later but it had gone from the bar. I contacted Paul the Harwich brewer, who told me he only brews it once a year around October. I will email him then for where I can get some.
I love mild but you dont see a lot round here. I once went into an Essex pub with an Australian barmaid. "Have you got any mild" I asked." Well the lagers not very strong flavoured" she said???

Not seen a mild in Essex since the Ridleys brewery shut, even then it was rarer than rocking horse ****.

Ahh! Ridleys. I was on jury service many years ago in Chelmsford. We were given a meal allowance at lunchtime and I used to go to a pub near the station. The Ridleys ale was from the WOOD!! Superb. I limited myself to one pint as I didnt want to go back to the court and vote to hang the poor s*d on trial for assault.
