A list of suppliers and manufacturers who supply temperature sensing equipment.
These include Thermometers, PID's, Probes and other devices/parts.
If you know of any other useful links, please post them.
To keep the topic tidy I'll delete posts after adding the info to the main list
If the trader doesn't have a website, I'll leave your post about them intact

Cedaronics (STC1000's and probes)
Thermometers Direct
Food Safety Direct (Thermometers)
Auber Intruments (US) (PIDS & probes)
RS (Thermometers & all-sorts)
Maplins (Thermometers & all sorts)
Fortrex (ATC 800)
TMS (Probes)
Zeal (hydrometers and thermometers, etc)
Peak Sensors (PIDS, sensors etc)

Temperature Sensors (PIDS, sensors, etc)

I've decided to have some custom thermistor sensors made for my STC 1000's and was worried after the demise of Watch Hill that it would be hard to find a place to do them in small quantities.
I've an order going through with Southern Temperature Sensors and so far their service has been excellent, I'll report back in time.

The replacement STC1000 sensor probes for my conicals arrived today
Very happy with them, work a treat and reasonable price too.
The smaller sensors below are made from 316 stainless sheath, 6mm in diameter, and 200mm long. They cost £13.80 each plus VAT, 150mm long sensors are the same price. The larger sensor is 450mm in length and cost £17 something, can't remember just now

Southern Temperature Sensors are selling mini thermocouple plugs and sockets on E-bay.
These are ideal for make/break connections for 2 wire probes. Personally, I use them with PT100's though they are designed for type K.
They will combine P+P for multiple sales, worth a nosey around their shop

And no, sadly I'm not on commission

It would have helped if I'd of linked it  ...honestly

No it wouldnt. Due to people linking things I have gone and purchased a temp dial from Southern Temperature Sensors. Amazingly fast delivery. Ordered Wednesday Night Arrived Today. Shame im such a numpty fool. I need to brew more oftern so I dont forget vital information. STUPID FOOL CLICKY LINKY THING

Vossy, do you know the specifications (specifically the Beta value) of the original thermistors as supplied with the STCs? I'm after a couple of custom sensors but really need to be careful over the thermistor characteristics.

Have you tested the accuracy of your sensors with the STC then?

(Basically, not all thermistors are equal even with the same resistance value at 25°C. The Beta value governs the resistance and curve v. temperature, Two different 10k NTC thermistors with a different Beta value would give a different resistances at temperatures different from the "starting resistance" - usually 10k at 25°C). You need to know the Beta value in order to know the temperature).

Clear as mud eh?

When I first got them, yes, tested against standardised PT100's as accurate.
I actually pulled the thermistor info from the net before asking for them to be made, so it wasn't just a 'punt' ..it was 6 months ago though and I can't remember where I got it from :hmm:
The memory is starting to fade through lack of the V1 brewery use

Would be useful to know. :hmm:

OTOH, for the temperature range I'm interested in (16 to 24deg) I suspect it will make bugger all difference.

I'll run some numbers with various sensors later and see.
