The first extract brew I did was grains, hops, 1kg Dme and 1kg brewing sugar.
This fermented in about 5 days using the brewbelt...(doesn't taste great after nealy 7 weeks though)
My next brew, 2500g DME, steeped grains, more hops and 500g brewing sugar and bottled water has been on the go for 8 days now and still it's bubbling!
Is this down to having more good stuff in there?
I'm hoping the taste will improve this time too

Obviously fermentation will be longer the more sugar etc is in there. A heater belt is not a good choice as it will ferment too warm that's why your getting off taste to your last brew. If you must use a heater belt make sure you have a thermostat with it. A brew belt can ferment up to 30 degrees
