They want to rename Victoria here in Australia because according to the righteous she was such a 'Bad Ass Queen'

George Orwell
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, rugby songs banned, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

― George Orwell, 1984

Change the names of states and cities to the original aboriginal names for them.

Interesting you're quoting Orwell. I'm a massive fan, particularly of his essays, but he he had some pretty dodgy attitudes, particularly towards women. He was a person of his time, as we are of ours
As concerns "Swing Low", the consensus I hear is don't ban, but understand & be sensitive about the songs roots....which is at least partly about slavery and the underground railroad. Also work towards inclusivity on the field & in the stands. Seems pretty sensible to me.
I"ve got a 13 year old lad who does sports and it's at the local/amateur level that racism and discrimination can occur and is most damaging.

I think a distinction can be sensibly made between symbols that idolise unsavoury characters and the complete whitewashing of history.

I haven't seen any evidence to convince me that the latter is happening.

I think the contention is that these figures should be taught as part of history, not idolised as part of our present and future.

My eldest son goes to Haileybury school and plays football for them, each year Haileybury give away free placements for various achievements. I was watching the football last season, the best and most exciting player by far was a young aboriginal boy who came to Haileybury on a sporting scholarship because of his speed. When he disappeared from the team I questioned why and the reason was he refused to train. It, unfortunately, is the same for most of their race there have been some brilliant footballers but when that career finishes they seem to go off the rails. Not all but 90%. Its sad to watch the documentary about Lionel Rose and what a come down he had.
Up north most of the guides are white, ask them why aboriginals aren't doing their jobs, because they won't turn up for work.

Why won't they turn up for work?
I never asked, work isn't something the aborigines take to, not all I have met, there are guides and rangers who love their jobs, jackaroo's they take to as well. Their biggest downfall is the grog, pretty sad to see them waiting outside the supermarket at 10.00 am to buy their daily quota, either 1 slab of beer , 1 bottle of spirits or 2 bottles of wine that was in Darwin.

I employed one when I was asked to by some Christian organisation, turned up not wearing any shoes, (he was direct from Melville Island) told him he had to wear shoes as it was in an engineering environment, turned up in a pair of thongs (flip flops) gave him a pair of boots, 2nd and 3rd day had to attend a corroboree never turned up on the 4th day gone on the 5th day.
