So these cameras can detect if you have taken drugs or are over the limit, sorry but i call BS this is scare tactics because they don't have enough police to to the job.

ew police cameras use a variety of technologies to monitor driver and vehicle behavior, including artificial intelligence (AI), video cameras, and infrared light:

  • AI-based cameras
These cameras analyze images of the driver and passengers to identify unsafe behaviors, such as using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt. The footage is then processed by AI to determine if an offense has been committed.

  • Video cameras
Some cameras use video-based technology and an intelligent virtual grid to assess speeding. Other cameras, like the Vector SR, can capture images of vehicles from both sides of the road.

  • Infrared light
Some cameras use infrared light to capture images at night and in bad weather. This means there's no need for a visible flash, so lawbreakers won't immediately know they've been caught.

"footage is then processed by AI to determine if an offence..."
So the AI decides?
Computer says...you're pi55ed!
The only way I can think this might help is if you've a single copper at the end of the road and this helps them know which cars to target, rather than randomly stopping people.

For a start, you can't be convicted by AI. Law doesn't allow for it and I think it'll be some time before it can.

All the way from Australia? Yes, there are cameras out there that catch you on the phone, but I haven't heard of impaired driving detection.
