evening to everyone on line

just wondering if anyone out there can help. going to start my geordie Scottish export on Saturday, and was wondering if its best to use sugar or dark spray malt? If I use malt will it give it a better taste? i know its only a cheap kit, but waiting to get the hang of brewing b4 i move on.

Yes, use spraymalt or go half and half.

Depends how much you want to pay really, I have bought Munton's dark spraymalt in the gold foil packs but at £2.95 for 500g I didn't feel inclined to go the full kilo.

If it's a cheap kit you can probably afford to add some extra malt, and it will make an improvement to body and flavour.

I'd be inclined to go with all spray malt and not bother with sugar.

I've been given a kit to review which is new to the UK market and calls for a kilo of sugar or DME - i'm going to use a kilo of DME.

Sugar thins a beer out too much for me, I brewed a beer in January, a big IPA and the recipe called for 1kg sugar and I went with it - totally wish i didn't.

Ooer - you seem to be right in the middle of: Leicester, Peterborough and Northampton. Yell.com seems to think they are your nearest LHBSs.
