... but with airlocks, are you meant to put the cap firmly in place on top of the airlock? If so, where does the gas coming up through the bubbles go to?? :?:

it escapes theres plenty of room for co2 molecules to escape.....if not it blows the blaady lid off.....

I thought the same thing when I started up a few weeks ago. Then I actually tried it and found short of super glue or duct tape, the lid doesn't fit tight enough to create a seal. I've left them on with no problems.
 
The only stupid question is the one you dont ask :thumb:

The caps are not air tight so the gas can still escape
