Well I'd planned on setting a second lot going this weekend but no joy, still have the stuck wherry in the FV. Long term planning on 4 barrels at once, quite a delay getting there. Since raising the temperature and carefully stiring with steralised spoon a couple of days ago it is very slowly bubbling, probably about 2 times a day, through the airlock but at 1030 I think it should be doing more. Its been in the FV two weeks tomorrow.

the question is, as I have all items for a yeast boost to restart it, is it okay to do this in its present state.

I'm just off to start steralising the things I'll need, please let me know if this is a good idea.

What?
1.030 after TWO WEEKS!

You could try another yeast to attempt to salvage it but I think you should be giving Munton's earache and looking for a replacement kit, plus a sachet of their ‘Gold’ brewing yeast.

1030

It doesn't normally stick there, it normally sticks at 1020.

I would get some more yeast in there, but before doing that I would be inclined to just check you hydrometer is accurate. It should read 1000 in tap water.

1030 after 2 weeks that doesn't sound quite right, done loads of woodfordes and never had one stick there. Did have a wherry that stuck at 1020 think it came down to 1016 in the end, no offence but you sure you read the hydrometer correctly?

Its the first time I've used one so could be me, I've stuck the yeast in and taken the hydrometer out, could have got it wrong. What harm will I have done to it if I am unecessarily re starting it again. I do like the Wherry and want to make the 4th barrel another one of this.

What's the great eastern ale like, I can't get it locally but had thought of sending for it.

Can't hurt sticking more yeast in, worst case nothing will happen best scenario it'll ferment down lower. When you took a reading was it near to the black bottling band? I found it took a bit of getting used to, have a look in the "how to" section i'm sure there's a thread on using your hydrometer.
The Great Eastern is a lovely summery pint. Good balance of hops and malt, and is very drinkable. Have heard that it's being discontinued but my local home brew shop has still got some at the moment, it's def worth doing before it's unavailable :thumb:

Its good to know its not ruined. Its bubbling away better than it ever has before. I'll have a good read of the how to thread in the morning, and definately before I try to use it again.

Will it take 5 day's ish again. Should I leave it until next weekend and check?

Think I'll just have to send for a Great Eastern Kit, it looks like my type of beer. Wychwoods blond ale is one I am very fond of at the moment.

Very nice!

One of my early brews, and one of my favourite kits so far. Muntons sent me this as a replacement for another kit (Smugglers something, maybe?) that didn't work.

Definitely recommend it.

First reading today 1008, and definately correct this time. Does this mean that I will have unintentionally made this brew stronger.

My current Wherry finished on 1.009 and tastes spot on! Don't know what the ABV is as I forgot to take the SG!
