I was just contemplating my winery. I have 2 gallons of Beaverdale Rioja and Cabernet Sauvignon which I am about to bottle. I also have a 15 litre carboy of Wurzel's Orange which is ready to bottle, a further 15 litres which is just about ready for racking and fining, and one empty 15 litre bottle. If I start off another brew now I will need to bottle the first 15 before I can rack the next 15, but I don't have enough wine bottles.

With his permission, I collect 6-8 bottles most Mondays from neighbour G's recycling tub, in return for a full bottle every now and then, but even so with what I've got and what I might expect, it would be another fortnight before I could bottle that 15 litres of Wurzel's.

Just then there was a knock on our front door, Mrs. G. called to say they had run a bar last night for a local Lions Club get-together, and did I want the empty wine bottles before she took them to the tip?

About 40 of them :thumb:

Only problem is, their own regular weekly bottles are of the previously corked variety but most of these Lions' bottles are screw tops.

Can I re-use screw tops? ;)
