Hi guys, i'm thinking of doing a stout for my next brew, are there any kits in particular that you have found great?

I'd also like to play about with the flavour having read about the addition of treacle, brown sugar, cocoa etc. Has anyone else played about with the given recipe's and to what effect?

Thanks. :thumb:

Made up a coopers Irish stout with 500 gram muscovado sugar 500 white sugar and one tin of treacle.

Currently enjoying about three pints of it a night!

Another vote for coopers Irish stout aswel,

500g of extra dark spray malt
500g of brewing sugar
454g of black trecle

That's what I think my last brew of it was and it was perfect ;)

+1 for the coopers irish :thumb:

I did it with 500g dark spraymalt and 500g demerara sugar, then primed it with 100g of black treacle dissolved in hot water.

It's only a few weeks old but it tastes delicious already

Another thumbs up for the Irish Stout. I only used basic sugar in mine and it turned into a very nice stout, so with the addition of different sugars, treacle, malts etc youle have a top notch stout.

Cheers guys, the Coopers kit sounds great, i think ill go along the lines of 500g of dark spray malt, 500g of brown unrefined sugar and half - a jar of black treacle.

How long would you recommend leaving it to mature? I've heard it tastes great after only 2 weeks :wha:

I made the standard stout and I like to consider myself hard to impress when it comes to beer. It's bloody gorgeous. But going on the general consensus won't steer you far wrong when it comes to kit beers

I've got the coopers Irish stout coming out of the Fv on Tuesday and I have a tin of treacle so would like to batch prime with that - how much water should I be dissolving it in to get this right for about 100g of treacle? Suggestions most welcome this is my first time trying this type of priming

I used about 200ml for mine, really just enough to dissolve it :thumb:
