Hi Fella's,

What is the best method and place to store un-used Hops?
How long can they be stored for berfore the need for chucking?

The reason I ask is that I have got 1kg of Saaz sitting in the cupboard. Could it go into the freezer without affecting the quality?

Regards
Pete ;)

Mine are vacuum packed and stored in the freezer . . . you still get degradation of the Hop oils and alpha acids but it does delay it significantly

I kept a good lot of fresh cascade's in a sealed container for many a week and they have remained fresh and fragrant, I also kept the same hops in a carrier bag just tied at the top and they began to have an earthy smell ... - binned em'.

In the freezer in a resealable bag with as much air squeezed out as possible, Last at least 6 months but then you need to start calculating for the lack of Alpha acids.
