Hello,

I'm interested in buying a 25kg sack or grain. I was wondering how do you store it? What I'm wondering is how do you keep it moisture free and keep the mice away? I have a garage I can store it in but would it absorb garage 'flavours'?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,
James

My grain was crushed and so it came in a sack with a clear plastic liner. When not being accessed it is stored in my garage, which luckily is mouse free due to the number of cats round here (it does have a resident toad though), and I keep it off the floor and closed with nylon cable ties (tiewraps).
No issues with contamination so far.
Incidentally, by obtaining mine from my local brewery it was cheaper than if I'd sourced it direct from the manufacturers in Warminster and it was delivered to my house.
Regards
Graham

I store mine in the garage inside a plastic bin. I do have a problem with mice but they have not got to the grain.

I was thinking of using a plastic bit but thought mice would chew through it. That's good to hear that the don't.

I use black plastic bin aswell, no problems from the mice that are evident in the garage, though they ate my blue camping mat insulation on my fermenter, go figure :wha:

I use a bin, not plastic but galvanized steel. I've had mice in my garage before and it's amazing what the little buggers will chew through.

Same here I've got one for my grains and one for the dog food stops the little critters

I use plastic barrel type fermenters with screw tops to store mine in.
I did used to suspend a sack from the roof beams in my attic, we used to have loads of mice n rats around too but my 7 kitts keep those at bay now
