I've not tried Cascade and FG together :hmm: I like FG on their own, this should be an interesting mix of flavours especially with the honey addition. Are you adding the honey as soon as the boil is over?

Good luck with it bones :thumb:

Yep, i thought i would do something different to my usual brews.

Never used honey; it sold as a wild flower variety so i'm hoping to get some floral notes, i will be adding at the last minute so the boil doesn't drive off the aroma

I'm hoping it will be a fresh thirst quencher.

I'm hoping i'll be lucky

Good luck with it Bones will be interested to hear how the honey adds to the brew, I love a hoppy pale ale and most of my brews tend to be urmm.. pale and hoppy!!! I`ve just done a brew with pacific gem for bittering and first gold for flavour and aroma - love that first gold - it`s great for summer pale ales!!!!

Oh yeah and I find most brews thirst quenching

Hi, Guys..

The weather has improved down here for at least a day so i will brewing Stinger.

I'm using my new 100L kettle so i'm playing around a bit...

I don't get too bothered about hitting the exact volume; for me whats impotant is that i hit the correct OG.

I will update the recipe at the end of the day if necessary.

My mash tun is to the brim so this i think at the moment is the bottle neck with my existing set up.

Pics to follow :thumb:

A Honey I want to try in a beer is Tescos finest, new zealand forest honey, It tastes Very very malty, in fact the malt is that in your face its not very good on toast, but I would imagine if you want a honeyed malty tasting beer it would be Ideal.

So all went to plan...

Not sure on final volume.. those who have 100L boilers have a look at the boil... what the max you can get out of this set up?

looks like you had a good day bones - how much grain can you squeeze in your tun? My new boiler is 60litres so looking to upgrade my tun (28litres) so I can do bigger brewdays

does it work OK then? I normally do 2.5 litres to the KG (only because i know no different) mytun is the same size so I could be packing more grain in  Do you do anything different with the sparge or just business as usual?

Seems Ok for me have be know to sparge down to 1010

I usually boil around 85 litres maximum and top up during the boil with any additional runnings giving Me 92L into the fermenters. With a 10% loss to yeast thats 18 gallons or 82L of finished beer.

Hi Guys,

I must say this is bl**dy lovely...

Not sure exactly what the First Gold added as i think the Cascade probaly took over...

This brew ended up 3.6 /3.7 so moorish

Hops come first and really stay... followed by the light malt and honey almost like a locket...

I think the hoppyness will blend a little in the coming weeks..

Its served from a Brewmaster Barrel with a sparkler tap..

I find the tap soooo much better than the one supplied with the barrel.

The recipe included flaked barley and wheat malt which both help to retain head
