Hi everyone

Just wondering what sterilizing methods you guys use. I currently use some youngs sterilizing powder but im finding it doesnt go as far as i would like and was wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives out there.

I dont have a huge deal to sterilize (fermentation bucket, couple of DJ's and bottles).

Can anyone give me any tips (the cheaper the better lol)

I use VWP for brewing equipment and FVs. Value bleach for bottles.

Goes a long way.

Thin bleach diluted to 1/5 and left to soak over night for heavily soiled equipment and 1/10 for a good clean, rinse well with cold water.

Less than £1 for 5ltrs when in stock at Lidl, don't use thick bleach, its a bugger to rinse.

Star San for me. No-rinse makes life much easier.

Videne available from a chemist diluted 2.5ml to Litre use in a spary bottle to contact sterilise no reinse needed. For cleaning i using Washing soda or oxyclean. :thumb:

I was under the impression it was 1.5ml per litre? :wha:

Used to use bleach but I have recently moved to starsan. I never had a problem using bleach I just fancied trying something else.
