sterilising bottles

Hi, is it possible to sterilise bottles before you need them?
A friend of mine does them and leaves a bit of the sterile fluid in the bottom then puts foil around the top to keep germs out.

Best way is to sterilise just before you need them but if your bottles have a screw cap dont suppose it would hurt to leave the solution in for a few hours

Up until a couple of weeks ago I have sterilised and rinsed my bottles and then dried them inverted, capped them with tinfoil and have left them for anything up to a couple of months before use.

Now I've got Videne, but that previous method never failed me.
