One of many cross-channel issues ;)

Can I use betadine as a no-rinse steriliser? I know I can get betadine as I bought some last week for my horses' first aid kit!

Thanks!

Can you get a material safety data sheet for the betadine? Or can you speak to the manufacturer and get their opinion on the stuff's suitability for making home brew?

I've not used the stuff myself, but I'd want to know it was 'safe' before trying it :D

Yes, you can :thumb:

A forum search is often worthwhile, see Aleman's post about a quarter of the way down page 3 of this topic.

Well this'll teach me to try and save time...

Popped into the pharmacy at work, came out with 120ml of betadine and 10.65CHF lighter  (That's £6.94)

I'm fairly sure I bought 75ml for 2.60€ last week for my horse.

(yes it's mixed currencies... I live in France and work in Switzerland  )

Ow!!!

Even at the current prices Videne is cheaper than that, I got 500 ml for just under 10GBP recently from a local supermarket chemist (Asda), with the pound / euro excange close to 1:1 that's a bit cheaper than your betadine for the horse.

Probably not enough for it to be worth while one of pisting the stuff to you though, even if it would pass customs....
