i have my fermenting fridge hooked up to an stc 1000. I had a lager fermenting in it with the temp set at 16c. I put the probe in a bottle of water inside the fridge. when i woke up the temp was at 30c! The cool function was showing on the dial but the heater was still red hot and the temp wasnt dropping. I had to resort to unplugging the heater and just turning the fridge on full to get the temp down. Bit annoyed that i cant seem to get this right, hopefully i havnt ruined the beer

first time ive used it, i think maybe the heater just wont cut out when it needs to. I bought it already set up

no the plugs are labelled heat and fridge and they are in the correct ones.

You should've really tested it before use.
Two mugs of water, one just boiled and one cold with ice cubes.
I plugged a light in to make sure the correct sockets were labelled ;)

The STC shows a LED next to either heat or cool. Is the correct one on and is the corresponding output live? The sockets might be mislabelled.

I'd suspect this as well - assuming of course the fridge was not on as well? Your post suggests the cooling light was on, but with the heater and the fridge was not doing anything?
