Hi,

Another newbie from New Milton in Hampshire, I just wanted to introduce my self and ask a couple of questions to start !

I've just mixed up my my 3rd batch of beer and I'm really loving it ! I'm using a Coopers starter kit as well and the Youngs Brew Buddy kit too.

I can't believe how nice it tastes, the Youngs lager in particular is great, is it actually a better quality product than say Stella from a can ?
Am I just imagining it tastes nicer because I made it myself ? Either way I seem to be drinking it faster than I brew and bottle it !

I've also got some wine on the go, which has been clearing for 5 days now, since I added the fining chemicals.
Should wine be perfectly clear before bottling and how long might it take ? How long will it last in a 5L PET water bottle ?
I checked in the fermentor yesterday and it's still a bit murky and I notice some bubbles rising from the sediment, perhaps siphon it off into a different bucket ?
It tastes quite nice, but still has quite a lot of suspended particles, should I leave it longer ?

On a final note, I had a bargain yesterday, in Wilkinsons' the Youngs 'Brew buddy' beer starter kits are ringing on the till at £17.39 !
That's a bargain I hear you say.. but wait.. you also get a 2nd 40 pint 1.8kg kit included in the box.

Even adding £8 for two 1Kg beer kit enhancers, that's 32p a pint !
You also get a nice bucket, hydrometer and siphon tube thrown in.So I got two of them !
I would be interested to know if any one else finds this in their local store.. or even if this is a long term offer ?

Cheers.

Simon

Yes it should be clear before bottling I would say.
2) Depending on the percentage, above 10% or is it 12% its years*, as for in a 5L PET I would advise against long term storage (1 year +) just in case the plastic taints the wine.
