Now springs here lighter evns & after tomorrows diploma exam I'll have more free time to get the brewery back up and running after 4 yrs of little brewing bar occasional kits. Back end of last year I got another shed sorted so have a 10x6 wooden shed for the whole brewing process, so I've sorted the 2 sheds just about and got a brewing bench built. I've also got the cold water feed going in to shed from outside tap just about sorted to bar a small leak. For the time being I also have 2 propane burners and propane gas bottle and 3 beer firkins for the hlt, mt & boiler. I've sourced the ball valves and silicone hose from here. Come next week I'll have the Electrics sorted currently no power, to shed and then I just need to finish converting the kegs by installing 2 ball valves in each top and bottom as bench is all level be pumping and plan to put a terms in a simple kettle affair with copper coil. After much deliberating and various posts decided to kis and cheap using brass and copper rather ss that I originally looked into but for my current set up and needs IJust can't justify the expense. I hope to post some pictures of progress shortly, thanks Andy

I should be revisin exam in 2 & 1/2 hours! Yeah I'll get the pictures sorted at the weekend veI already taken them as I was progresing last year just need to upload to PC.

Luckily I have some useful relitives who are in the "trade" and know a ything or 2 about plumbing heating and electrics so I've got some armord cable and drainpipe tubing and most other bits that I'll need for free to sort the electrics. As the sheds are anout 500 meters from house the armoured cvable isn't long enoght to get all the way down also the garden the partitioned by fence abourt 1/4 way down the lenght running acroos so the plan is to have an out door socket in the first 1/4 and then cable from there protected by the drain piping for trest of run to shed.

I think tomorrow I'll get the ball valves and either tank connectors or flanges and backnuts and get the tap into the pots this week end and order the silicone hose off vossey this w/e too . In fact Ill pm him now then get a shower and get ready for this exam!

Exam over and done with for now results in two months and next sitting in October so got a few months off from study so on with the brew build...

Just gone back to plumbers to get the prices for the bits as follows;

6 ball valves at £29.94
5 tank connectors 15 mm at £7.25
2 elbows at 43p
10mm lenght of 8mm copper coil £15 for herms coil to go into domestic kettle
silicone hose £25.25

Insulation from B&Q £15? Do I need it or will it hold temp on own although save gas
2 False bottoms £50 £25 each from home brew shop
propane hose £10 BES collection>?

I already have the pump although needs fixing after dog chewed it either new front part at £10 inc postage or £30 delivered for new one?

Total £182.87.
Eventually I'll also want some cam locks which work out at £62.86 inc delivery.

I already have an ATC 800+ to control herms for time being until upgrade to PID
and also dubble up to control fermenting cupboard that I will also build. Need more insulation also maybe need a bit of wood. Eventually I also want get a PID which for all the bits including roaming probe is aprox £150 last time I looked so that's £396 running total.

Tonight I'm going to empty the shed, so come tomorrow morning I can start to run the electrics in. :drink:

Hope its deep enough or heavily insulated, this Winter I had problems with offloading the warm side of the plate chiller through hose going to the pond.

OK, if this beast needs 6 ball valves, we definitely need to see pictures : The first design as was going to be all fixed and bv to divert needed about 14! Using 2 on each pot one as in feed and the other as out, so hlt cold feed in be fixed and wanted to be able to control flow from inside of shed and one at bottom to gravity fed into pump, as mash tun going to be herms needed return as well as out and the boiler has 2 one in feed and other out so if I want to I can drain into another boiler so I can split the brew. I've spent £55 in the local plumbers for the bits, just need propane hose and silicone hose (got payment details will order tonight)

Wow just about got Electrics sorted the armour cable was longer than expected, will finish off on Monday. Just had a quick go at bending the copper round to fit in kettle might have try and wrap it around something instead

Made the her Ms coil by wrapping around a can of wd 40 as 8mm bore there a re a few kinks in it hopefully should be OK I can blow though it so it should be OK did take 2 goes

Newton Shed has power and lights! OK its limited to 13 amps butas my main heating for the hlt and boiler is propane so only be running lights domestic kettle an atc 800 and 12 volt solar pump and when not brewing the atc 800 a fan heater and a table top fridge for cooling fv temps
