Hi guys. Bought some Star San the other day and made up 5L using Tesco ashburton water at 1.5ml per L.

This was two weeks ago and the Star San is now looking decidedly cloudy. I assume this means it has reacted with the water? So will now not work.

Can I just add more Star San? Or is it a case of throw it away and start again?

Test the pH. Is it below 3.5?

There is another thread with a good podcast with the creator of star San. I will try and find it :thumb:

I'd throw it away to be on the safe side but as you used bottled water with limited mineral content its probably OK. I use RO water from the local garden /aquarium centre, 5 gallons only costs a couple of quid and its doesn't go cloudy. :thumb:

I put it in a 5 gallon potable water jerry can, the one's with a tap used for camping, makes it easy to dispense into your spray bottle etc.

Thanks guys, going to get myself some test strips, although to be honest given the price of the Tesco water, it's almost worth throwing it away and starting again, which is probably what I will do anyway.
