Evening everyone  ,

I'm looking towards my next beer kit here. I've seen these spraymalt bags aswell as beer enhancer bags that are usually 500g.

I usually throw a 1kg bag of your normal granulated sugar in my brew, but I'd like to experiment on my next brew to get a better flavour from it, especially as it's going to be a xmas batch.

Any pointers on spraymalt or beer enhancer kits would be great. I've seen both items and am a little confused as to the amount of each vs 1kg bag of sugar..

Thanks all.

hi chris, i've just completed a kit (coopers ipa), and instead of 1 kg sugar, used 500g sugar and 500g light spraymalt, lady in beershop suggested altering ratio to taste, but not too critical when using a kit. so long as fermentables add up to total required should be fine :drink:

As major burns  says just substitute either for 1 kg of granulated sugar :thumb:
A change to 1kg of beer enhancer will enhance the body and maltiness somewhat without sacrificing too much alcohol content, using 1kg of spraymalt will increase the quality no end but you will sacrifice 0.5 to 1% abv :wha: your choice :hmm:
Oh and another benefit is less of a hangover
Strange but true
Of course there is an alternative, you could brew a 3kg kit which needs nothing else added, just a thought :)

Experimenting is the best way ( could turn out a bad batch which wastes a kit  ) but as long as you look at what other people try you cant go to wrong.I for example at the moment have used 1 tin of golden syrup and 500gram of sugar in a coopers lager, and just put 1 tin of black treacle and 500g of molasses in a bitter.I am also using bottled water from the local supermarket ( as its very cheap ) in place of tap water.

1 thing i can agree with as per tubby_shaw comment,Buy yourself a 3kg kit,i have done a muntons imperial stout an it tastes amazing, the are a little higher in price ( around the £20 mark ) but are well worth it  :thumb:

Goodluck with the brew
