Hi all,

First post from me here. I'm on my second Kit Brew, a Woodforde's Wherry. It's been in the FV for just over a week so far.

My aim is to transfer it to my Pressure Barrel in another week or so. I would also like to bottle a few so I can compare the results and also so I can take a few bottles with me to Christmas do's!

Two Questions, please:

Should I syphon the whole brew directly from the FV into the Pressure Barrel, along with the appropriate amount of sugar, then fill the bottles from the Pressure Barrel tap? or,

Prime and fill the bottles and barrel individually?

Second Question;

What's the minimum I'd want to put in the Pressure Barrel (basic pressure barrel) so that secondary fermentation builds sufficient pressure? Could I split the brew half into bottles, half into Barrel, without having too much of a problem with Barrel pressure? (OK that's 3 questions :D )

Thanks in advance

Martin

you can batch prime if you want how many bottles are you thinking of having ? you should be ok with about 18L in the keg then the rest in the bottles that way you will have around 10 bottles

Thanks Eddie,

5 Litres of bottled sounds good. Leaves more in the barrel for me!

I'm guessing that if I batch prime in the Pressure Barrel and then immediately tap off 10 bottles worth, any air getting into the Barrel from the tap won't matter as at that point it's not up to pressure.

Many thanks for your response.

Martin
