Got some of the new ones from Get 'er Brewed. This is what I plan to do with them....

I use Styrian Bobek in Saison and the occasional wheat beer and am partial to them. Much difference when you open the packet between them?

Not opened them yet. I have 100g of each of the 9 varieties - bit spoiled for choice!

Really glad you've started this thread Manse! I've done 6 AG brews, but always from 'AG kits' - the idea of being given hops to play with is a bit of a change for me.

So, I have a few things I need help with from all you lovely forum members.

Recently, my brews have all been dark - stout + 80'. This time I'd really love to have a go at an Abbey Blonde / Leffe style of beer. So, help please...will these hops support this plan + recipe suggestions please!

Thanks

Martin

So...

I need to order some grain from get 'er brewed....

Get 6kg of Pilsner, 250g each of Vienna and cara Munich type I. Use the Styrian Goldings 10g at 10 mins and 20g and end of boil. You will need another hop for buttering. I use EGK. Get a Belgian golden ale liquid yeast.

I think Manse has made a seperate thread for his beer (triple Bridge) looks great!!

I am thinking of doing an IPA Using Aurora for bittering and Dana, Wolf and Cascade for the flavouring / aromas Will probably try and use the 4 types so best part of 200grams.. lots in the flame out and dry hop... Hoddy said he was going to do something similar. Need to crunch the numbers though for that.

I was also thinking of doing a pilsner type with the bobek and savjinski.

The remainder Ill either combine or do some smash brews with.

I have loads of Styrian Goldings that I am using for a Belgian golden ale this weekend but for the majority of the hops I was thinking a hop overload IPA.

But also wanted to try some rye

I'm going to order some smoked or peated grain, anyone have any suggestions for a recipe that would fit the competition hops?

Or if anything a rough idea of one?

What sort of style are you aiming for?

You could do something with Bobek and goldings maybe, depends what are you trying to do..

Maybe look at the hops think about what style you're going to create and get the bill to suit.

So this is my original thoughts. Re-using the Belgian Golden Ale yeast that I am going to use this weekend.

Any thoughts.

I am by no mean any veteran but the only thing that looks a bit out of place is having a 30 minute hop addition, That will if I am correct impart from flavour and some bitterness, if You're looking for more flavour from that addition reduce the time to 15-20 mins say.

This is my first draft at a Slovenian IPA

I think though I will scale it down.. maybe I am being greedy on the hops, I am going with US05 though clean and let the hops sing

That is a cool thing about this prize is there is so much scope and really allows us to build something new.

oops its beacause I left it right at the end (i dont normally put dry hop in brewmate)

It will be a 5 day dry hop mostly likley.. if I do one that is

I normally do a 10 or 5, I did even have it as that originally but have fiddled with it a lot, Someone told me yonks ago they swore that 21 for flavour and 7 for aroma were sweet spots. So was thinking of giving it a try..

Its not set in stone yet so was going to throw it around yet still
