sloe gin

started my first sloe gin yesterday equal parts gin sloes and sugar cant wait for xmas to drink some i love the stuff but never had a chancce to make it till now just moved into a rural area and sloes are abundent so i have just about filled a demijon :party:

Been making Sloe Gin last 4 years now and it's marvellous, got some bottled in 2006 for this year. Hold a bottle or 2 back and put in cupboard and forget about it, it gets better. Dont throw those spent sloes away either, put some into bottles and top up with sherry and wait for a year lovely. After that use same sloes again, put in bottle and add cider wait again lovely. now you can put them Sloes in the compost bin and wave a fond farewell to them. Thats what i call the ultimate recycle !!!!!!!!!!!

Since making the sloe gin I have started noticing different recipes as well as been amazed by the amount of people obsessed by the stuff. I am looking forward to trying mine around Christmas time (I know it's early), and then tasting it as it gets better. And then comes the sherry... :thumb:
