sloe gin from dried

From my previous thread about sloe gin..although i would have to wait until 'autumn' to collect the berries, if i can find them that is, i have found a site selling dried sloes, and so, would these be ok to make sloe gin, or would fresh be better because of the juice in the berry content??

Fresh is probably better for most things, but the difference may well only be something that is slightly discernable, or only discernable to a few. I reckon it would be worth giving it a go. cheapo gin and forget about it until next winter, you could be drinking sloe gin while everyone else is making it :D
 
For really good sloes it's best to wait until the first frosts before picking them.
A year or so back I did a blind taste with M&S SG v J_P's and he won hands down, with an almost sherbert like quality to the drink :cool:
 
I got utterly plastered on JP's SG, twas awesome :thumb:
