I was going to start a thread bemoaning modern kettle elements and the work needed to fit them compared to the one I fitted to my aluminium Burco boiler a long time ago when I came upon this thread..http://thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic ... w=previous Apparently simple screw in elements are still available at a price.
I did my conversion after my burco broke down in the middle of a boil. I tipped the half done brew into my FV while I had a think. Having thunk to no avail I threw the bloody thing out the back door in a temper. Luckily the top and bottom broke away and I finished my brew using just the top on my oven. I had never seen a conversion before but I had an old kettle and the burco aluminium was a doddle to cut a hole in. Served me well for years. If I was going to do it now I would be tempted to buy one of the old types rather than do a wiring job with a Tesco one.

no wiring needed with the tesco elements now, just put a 38mm hole in your boilerremove tesco element and fit to boiler, might need a gasket to make water tight..the elements now come away from the kettle intact with the led, the switch is not needed.
