Northern Brewer
Landlord.
Here's yesterday's brewday - first the recipe
Recipe: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Style: American Pale Ale
TYPE: All Grain
Taste: (30.0)
Batch Size (fermenter): 80.00 l
Estimated OG: 1.044 SG
Estimated Color: 20.5 EBC
Estimated IBU: 39.5 IBUs
Ingredients:
------------
14.00 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC)
2.00 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (118.2 EBC)
0.50 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (3.9 EBC)
50.00 g Magnum [14.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min
60.00 g Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 30.0 min
50.00 g Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 mins)
70.00 g Perle [8.00 %] - Boil 10.0 min
30.00 g Perle [8.00 %] - Aroma Steep 0.0 min
1.0 pkg Safale American (DCL/Fermentis #US-05) Yeast
Didn't quite go according to the recipe, I forgot to get the S05 yeast so used S04 and I only had extra dark crystal 400 IBU so its a lot darker than intended.
Ended up with 80L of 1052 rather than 1042 OG.
Here's a few pics - forgot to use the camera until near the end
The boil - I lean the lid on the fan ducting to provide a crude steam hood that works quite well
Here's whats left in the copper
Here's how I get air into the wort, also allows me to keep tabs on the temperature as the rod is a long PT100 temp probe. I will stick a wort aerator on the pipe eventually but seems to work fine.
And finally the neighbours cows eating the spent grain, usually they find it the next day, this time they could smell me brewing and were waiting - downside is they were unacustomed to hot grain
Cheers
