The dragon and the knight
A dragon fierce and proud
With scales that glistened in the sun
He guarded his domain with fire
And feared no living one
A knight in shining armor
With courage in his heart
He sought to slay the beast
And prove his noble art
They met upon a hilltop
Where flames and steel did clash
The dragon roared with fury
The knight was quick and rash
They fought with skill and valor
But neither could prevail
The dragon's breath was deadly
The knight's sword was frail
They paused to catch their breaths
And looked into each other's eyes
They saw a glimpse of honor
And a hint of surprise
They realized they were equals
And respected their foe's might
They lowered their weapons slowly
And ended their pointless fight
The dragon spared the knight
And the knight spared the dragon too
They parted ways in peace
And learned something new
That sometimes foes can be friends
And sometimes friends can be foes
But the truest test of courage
Is to show mercy to those who oppose.
