Ive had a budget barrel for about a year now and first time I used it, it was fine. Second time, I couldn't get it to seal (despite new rubbers all round, Vaseline etc..) and ended up with some fairly rubbish beer. I've not dared use it since.

The issue I have is that We're moving in a few weeks so I'm a bit nervous of bottling anything else in case it gets smashed in the move but I am also worried about kegging as I don't want to lose 40 pints of my hard work due to a rubbish budget barrel!

I can afford a king keg but not until after the move (which is no use) so should I just bugger it an bottle or risk the keg?

cheers

hi Dave,

Personally I would bottle it. It sounds like the keg could be unreliable and you risk losing it all, whereas if you lose a couple of bottles to breakages, you still have the rest? You could always move the bottles in your car (in crates if you have them) and reduce the risk of anyone else handling them.

hmm.... Sounds like a plan! or.... I could keg it and when it doesn't seal, drink it really fast! :D

I spent the morning of my moving day back in July bottling beer. My theory was that if the bottles can make it to the shops in lorries, they should be fine in the back of my car. Not a single bottle broke, so I say bottle it.
