Nazi salutes and monkey noises have no place in the game or anywhere for that matter, should they be kicked out bearing in mind they have history and this behaviour was expected.

The Vasil Levski Stadium was already subject to a partial closure for the match after Bulgaria were sanctioned for racist behaviour during Euro 2020 qualifiers against Kosovo and the Czech Republic.

The Bulgarian prime minister has called for the head of the country's football association to resign after England players were racially abused in a European qualifier in Sofia on Monday.

Boyko Borissov "strongly condemned" the behaviour, which included Nazi salutes and monkey chants.

The match, which England won 6-0, was halted twice because of racist behaviour by home fans.

The British government is writing to Uefa on Tuesday to demand more action.

No they should not be kicked out now, but they should be banned from World Cup and European qualifying for 4 years and their league clubs banned from European competitions. If after 4 years they repeat this abuse then a ban of 10 years should be imposed.

The only thing that will happen with any further sanctions is what type of abuse constitutes bans etc.

Eg. homophobic chants, sexist chants.

Football more than any other sport has a far more territorial fan base and "banter" is a part of the match day experience for many.

Is there a hiarachy of acceptable isms when it comes to chants or not? guess thats for the FA, FIFA, UEFA to decide...

Just remove them from qualification and banned from the next WC and EC. I would feel for the players though.

Good point why should the players suffer, ban the fans not the players as it wasn't the players that were racially abusing our players.

It depends what will have the biggest impact. Playing behind closed doors doesn't help. Maybe play away from home with no away ticket allowance?

Need the biggest impact in order for the countries FA/government to make changes.

Same as banning English teams from Europe in the 80's, forced a reaction from the government which lead to improvements.

shame for the players but they all have a responsibility to solve the issue.

England isn't without its issues around this, so same impact needed at club level.

They are not going to qualify as they are bottom of the group BUT throwing them out will send a signal to every other country and set a precedent. This means it will be easier to throw out countries in the future. To eradicate this from society, a start has to be made somewhere.

You can bet that if they were sitting top of the group, there is no way that UEFA would throw them out. It would start all sorts of legal action and compensation claims (for loss of income to that country's FA from appearing in the finals) and UEFA would want to avoid all that, as money seems to talk louder than principles.

No! It's for society to decide and tell these idiots that this behaviour is not acceptable.

Playing behind closed doors is an absolute farce. Wolves next European game is 'behind closed doors'. As Wolves have been given 200 tickets for category 1 supporters (ie corporate hospitality), UEFA have decided this gives the away team an unfair advantage so have allowed the 'offending' team to sell tickets to schoolchildren. Whilst this is a good idea in principle, won't those children need adults to supervise them? Not really playing behind closed doors, is it?

Sorry Dexter, I'm not picking on you, just 2 points that you made that I felt needed further elaboration.

No need to apologise! :)

My point though is should clubs be kicked out of competitions for sexist chants... was thinking about the Ashes where some of the crowd were chanting get your ....'s out. Brighton often get subjected to homophobic chants etc but there is a lot less pressure on this.

completely agree the playing behind closed doors is pointless and should be scrapped as a punishment

Agreed but society has changed. If the type of sexist wording would be considered offensive in the workplace, then chanting it at a football ground should also be considered offensive.
